Artwork Requirements for Embroidery and DTF Printing
Good artwork helps produce better decoration results. The artwork needed for embroidery is different from the artwork needed for DTF printing, so this guide explains what to send and when to ask for help.
Artwork for Embroidery
Embroidery is flexible when it comes to artwork.
For embroidery, most image and file formats can be used, including common logo images. If your artwork needs preparation, we can advise during the process.
Your logo is converted into stitch instructions before it can be embroidered. This is called digitising.
Embroidery Approval Process
For new embroidery logos:
- We digitise your logo for embroidery
- We email a plot sheet showing the digitised image, sizing and location
- You review and approve the plot sheet
- We run a physical sample on the embroidery machine
- We email a photo of the stitched sample for final approval
- Once approved, your order is scheduled into production
This process helps confirm how the embroidery will look before your full order is completed.
Artwork for DTF Printing
DTF printing requires scalable artwork suitable for printing.
In simple terms, this means artwork that can be enlarged without becoming blurry, jagged or pixelated. These files are usually created in design programs such as Adobe Illustrator.
If you are unsure whether your logo is suitable, send it through before ordering and we can advise.
Helpful Artwork Tips
For best results:
- Send the clearest version of your logo available
- Avoid screenshots where possible
- Provide brand colours if they are important
- Tell us if colours or text need to be changed
- Let us know if the order is a repeat job
- Include any previous order number if available
Vector Artwork Explained Simply
Vector artwork is a type of file that can be resized without losing quality. This makes it especially useful for DTF printing, where the artwork needs to remain sharp at the final print size.
If you do not know whether your logo is vector artwork, do not worry. Send what you have and we can let you know if anything else is needed.
File Formats
For embroidery, most common image and file formats can be reviewed.
For DTF printing, the artwork must be scalable and suitable for print. AI and EPS files are commonly suitable, but other scalable file types may also work.
