DTF Printing
DTF Printing for Workwear, Uniforms and Custom Apparel
DTF printing is a flexible garment decoration method that allows detailed, full-colour designs to be applied to a wide range of apparel.
PlusEmbroidery offers in-house DTF printing for Australian businesses, clubs, schools, teams and organisations needing printed logos, larger designs or artwork that may not suit embroidery.
What Is DTF Printing?
DTF stands for Direct to Film. The design is printed onto a transfer film and then applied to the garment using heat and pressure.
It is often used when artwork has more detail, more colours or a larger print area than would usually be practical for embroidery.

In-House DTF Printing
Our DTF printing is completed in-house, which helps us manage quality, communication and production timing.
DTF printing generally follows the same production timeframe expectations as embroidery. Please refer to our FAQ page for current production and turnaround information.
No DTF Setup Fees
PlusEmbroidery does not charge setup fees for DTF printing.
For DTF printing, suitable scalable artwork is required so the design prints clearly at the required size.
Artwork Requirements for DTF Printing
DTF artwork must be supplied in a scalable format suitable for printing.
In simple terms, this means artwork that can be enlarged without becoming blurry or pixelated. These files are commonly created in design programs such as Adobe Illustrator.
If you are unsure whether your artwork is suitable, send it through and we can advise before production.
DTF Printing Minimums
Blank garments can be ordered with no minimum quantity.
For DTF printing, a minimum decoration charge equivalent to 5 printed items applies. You can order fewer than 5 garments if required, but the minimum DTF decoration charge still applies.
Garments and Material Limitations
DTF printing is not suitable for every garment.
We cannot DTF print onto fire retardant materials, polar fleece, or materials that may melt under heat. If you are unsure whether a garment is suitable, please contact us before ordering.
DTF Printing or Embroidery?
DTF printing and embroidery both have advantages.
Choose DTF printing when you need detailed, full-colour or larger designs.
Choose embroidery when you want a premium stitched logo for polos, jackets, workwear or long-term uniform use.
If you are unsure, we can help recommend the most suitable decoration method.
